The SPAR Redhouse River Mile takes place this year on the 19th Feb in Cannonville on the Sunday’s River. 2012 celebrates the Mile’s 88th anniversary ensuring it remains Africa’s longest running open water swimming event.
Port Elizabeth has been rocked by the news that the open water swimming event has had to move because of severe pollution levels in the Swartkops River. Following a letter from the Metro advising that water quality cannot be guaranteed, the organisers have made the decision to relocate the event to Sundays River saying “Everything else will remain the same, just a different venue.”
