The Eastern Cape is one of the most breathtaking destinations in South Africa. Many greats like Nelson
Mandela, Walter Sisulu, Govan Mbeki and Steve Biko to name but a few, have been born and bred
here. This is one of the reasons that garnered this province so much respect, praltically all over the
world. The region is known for its beautiful coast line and incredible escapes that leave most people
yearning for more.
Being the second largest province in South Africa, the Eastern Cape never fails to amaze with the
stillness of its Transkei homelands and its unprecedented natural diversity. Although it has an
undeniable modern identity, it is a relatively serene region that is on the economical rise day by day.
It has always been said that the Eastern cape boasts the friendliest people in South Africa along with
the most diverse and breathtaking of natures’ many wonders. the largest city in the Eastern Cape
is Port Elizabeth (the friendly city) and it is one of the places where one is guaranteed a great time
either by surfing the waves or taking long walks on the abundance of game parks one of which being
the widely popular, Kragga Kamma.
There is always something new to discover in the Eastern Cape even for those residing here as it
is always an inspiring experience when one takes a break from the hectic schedules and business
meetings only to be reminded of mother nature’s beauty. At the 2010 soccer world cup, the
Eastern Cape never failed to please, tourists treasured the time they spent at the game parks,
beaches, soccer stadiums and townships.
This region is also home to countless possibilities and one of those come in the form of Coega
development which is an internationally recognised port. This has been a blessing for the Eastern
Cape as it has created thousands of opportunities therfore reducing the number unemployment.
The Eastern Cape is one of the provinces that will always be remembered and thanked for producing
so many inspirational people that have shaped South Africa’s identity amongst the international
plattform. It is therefore a relief to know that its people are not resting on their laurels but making
their own strides into becoming future trail blazers of an iconic country, South Africa.
